Conference Will Examine Legislative Issues
First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, will be the site of the Eastern Washington Legislative Conference Jan. 30 and 31.
The annual conference is a chance for people to take a look at issues before the Washington State Legislature in the 1998 session.
The keynote speaker at the conference will be Bishop Walton Mize of the Spokane Diocese of Christ Holy Sanctified Church.
Registration is $20, which includes lunch.

Taize prayer service tonight
The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th, will host a special Taize prayer service at 7 p.m. in the chapel. The form of prayer originated from the Brothers of the Ecumenical Taize Community in France.
The candlelight service combines simple, melodic chants with Scripture reading, prayers and silence.
All are welcome to attend.
Lecture today at GU
Gonzaga University will host a lecture today on the Roman Catholic Church’s role in the political process on state and national levels.
The lecture will be presented by Sister Sharon Park, executive director of the Washington State Catholic Conference.
The free event will be at 7 p.m. in the Jepson Center auditorium on the Gonzaga campus.
The public is welcome.
