Knicks Fans Give Bad Review To Childs’ Play

From Wire Reports

Chris Childs insists that he does not read newspapers or listen to the sports talk shows. But he could not avoid the critique offered up by the Madison Square Garden crowd Sunday, when the fans met his introduction with a loud chorus of boos.

The boos came one game after Childs had missed a 3-point field-goal attempt in the final seconds of a loss to the Chicago Bulls. Aside from the grumbling of the home crowd, there have been rumblings in the organization about Childs as well, suggestions that he could be the next player to be traded as the Knicks try to stay afloat without Patrick Ewing.

Knicks management refused to discuss trade possibilities, but the latest talk has involved Childs being offered in a package to obtain Toronto’s explosive point guard, Damon Stoudamire.

Kerr breaks collarbone

Chicago Bulls guard Steve Kerr broke his left collarbone in a loss Thursday to the Philadelphia 76ers, an injury he said could keep him sidelined for at least two months.

Kerr, one of the team’s key reserves, was injured early in the fourth quarter of a 106-96 loss at Philadelphia. He collided with the 76ers’ Derrick Coleman while driving to the basket and Coleman landed on him when the two hit the floor.

Kerr rejoined the team for its flight to Chicago and will be examined by Bulls’ team physicians today to determine how long he’ll be out. Although no timetable was set, Kerr said he expected to miss “a couple of months.”

A 10-year veteran, Kerr is averaging 7.1 points per game.
