Fourth-ranked Newport couldn’t hold off fifth-ranked Riverside as the Rams, bent on climbing in the state polls, knocked off the Grizzlies 42-34 in Great Northern League action Friday night.

The Rams (8-1, 4-0) found themselves down 15-11 at the half thanks to a 3-for-28 shooting slump.

Riverside hit 8 of 16 in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Grizzlies (8-2, 2-2) 23-13 in the final period.
