Man Attacked, Thrown In River

From Staff Reports

A group of people attacked a man in Riverfront Park on Friday night, beating him and tossing him into the Spokane River, police said.

The 20-year-old victim was walking through the park about 8:30 p.m. when he ran into a crowd of 50 to 60 people near the Clock Tower.

He was mistakenly called a rapist by someone in the crowd, police said. He was immediately knocked to the ground, where people began kicking and punching him.

After wading out of the icy river, the victim called police.

Officers arrested a 15-year-old boy and 23-year-old Arthur W. Robinson of Spokane on suspicion of first-degree assault. , DataTimes
