Show Me The Money
States are appropriating a record $305 million to support the arts this year, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies reported Monday. Congress is making an additional $98 million available for the year. City and local governments also provide money for the arts.
It was the first time since 1990 that funding by the states topped the $292 million record of that year, the organization said. It put appropriations for 1997 at $272 million.
