Clarkston Starts Frontier Season Victoriously

Tyson Thivierge, moving up from 178 pounds, registered a pin at 215 pounds Tuesday as Clarkston opened the Frontier League wrestling season with a 42-26 win at Cheney.

Cheney freshman David Courchaine (129) improved to 18-4 with his eighth pin of the year. Cheney’s Mike Rode defeated Roger Marks 5-4 in overtime at 148 on a stalling point.

Domination at lower and middle weights allowed Colville (4-0) to defeat host Riverside 50-20 in a Great Northern League match.

Kyle Aiken (108), Josh Slater (115), Tim Slater (122), Justin Gotham (141) and Justin Divis (158) had pins to lift the Indians to a 44-3 lead. Jesse Lee (215) had the lone pin for the Rams (1-3).

Elsewhere, Deer Park (3-1) registered a 63-12 win over visiting Chewelah (1-3), and Medical Lake (2-2) notched a 59-18 victory over visiting Pullman (1-3).

DP raced ahead 39-0 with three pins and three forfeit wins.

Lakeside (3-0) and Newport-Cusick (0-3) postponed their match. No makeup date was announced.
