Clinic Serves Uninsured, Underinsured

From Staff And Wire Reports

A clinic for the uninsured and underinsured opened this week in Kellogg.

A half-dozen patients showed up Monday evening at the Shoshone Community Health Clinic, nurse Cindy Williams said.

“That was very good, since it was a holiday and there hadn’t been much of any publicity,” she said Tuesday.

There were nearly three times as many volunteer staff members as there were patients. It was a trial run for everyone, Williams said.

The clinic is in the Panhandle Health district office, 114 W. Riverside. Its phone number is 786-3019 and will be in service later this week.

It will be open every Monday at 6 p.m., and close at 9 p.m. People must check in before 8 p.m., Williams said, except in emergencies.

The clinic is modeled after Coeur d’Alene’s Lake City Health Care. It will charge between $1 and $10 for office visits, depending on patients’ ability to pay. , DataTimes
