Portland Resumes Racing

Horse racing will resume at Portland Meadows on Friday, two weeks after races were suspended because of an accident that seriously injured jockey Katherine Mayo.

The track spent $40,000 to install temporary padding on the inner safety rail. Jockeys had forced Portland Meadows to cancel racing the past two weekends following Mayo’s Jan. 2 accident.
