Shaq Levels Blast

Associated Press

An unimpressive victory over his former team behind him, Lakers center Shaquille O’Neal has apparently seen enough of his current team’s inconsistent play.

O’Neal chastised his teammates Tuesday for their lackluster effort, after viewing portions of the Lakers’ 92-89 victory over Orlando on Monday.

“A couple guys need to step their game up,” O’Neal said. “The tape doesn’t lie. They know who they are.”

O’Neal chose not to name the players he was referring to, but made it clear that they would not get blamed if the Lakers started losing to some of the softer teams.

“Of course, if we lose a couple games, it will be (coach) Del Harris’ fault first and mine second,” O’Neal said.

Iverson saluted

Philadelphia 76ers point guard Allen Iverson was named player of the week after helping his team to a 3-0 record, averaging 25.3 points, 7.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds.

Twins for Jazz’s Keefe

Adam Keefe didn’t play in the Utah Jazz’s Monday game, but he still had a double-double.

Keefe’s wife, former Olympic volleyball player Kristen Klein, gave birth to twin girls early Tuesday in a Salt Lake hospital.

Shootout list

Former champions Dale Ellis of Seattle and Glen Rice of Charlotte will lead the competitors for the NBA’s AT&T Shootout during All-Star Weekend.

Ellis, the all-time leader in 3-pointers with 1,528, was the winner in 1989 and Rice triumphed in 1995.

Joining Ellis and Rice in the shootout will be Dallas’ Hubert Davis, Utah’s Jeff Hornacek, Vancouver’s Sam Mack, Indiana’s Reggie Miller, Washington’s Tracy Murray and New York’s Charlie Ward.
