Deputies Say Nurse Admits Drug Theft

From Staff Reports

A nurse arrested for theft and possession of narcotics has admitted stealing medication from a Kellogg hospital, sheriff’s deputies said.

Jolene Gronholz is being held in the Shoshone County Jail on a $25,000 bond. Gronholz is the former head of surgery at Shoshone Medical Center, where deputies allege she stole the medication.

Gronholz, 44, admitted stealing the drugs when deputies questioned her, Cpl. Mitch Alexander said. Hospital records confirmed Gronholz had access to the drugs, he said.

Deputies began investigating Gronholz after receiving several complaints of stolen medication. Alexander described the stolen drugs as “several different liquid narcotics.”

Gronholz was arrested earlier this month. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled next month.
