Alpine skiing/snowboarding

For the 18-and-over crowd that wants to compete with the pros, Big Mountain in Whitefish, Mont., will be hosting the Northern Division Masters Race. Lift tickets are $25 per person with a cost of $15 per race. Registration is 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Alpine Lodge. Info (406) 862-1952.

Silver Mountain received 2 feet of snow since Wednesday and run conditions are powder and machined groomed. Local junior ski team, the Mitey Mites, will race on Tamarack Sunday. Spectators are welcome.

Micah Black, extreme skier from Cheney who was on the December cover of Powder Magazine, will be at 49 Degrees North Saturday for a ski clinic and to sign autographs. Info - 935-6649.

Nordic skiing

Nordic trails on Mount Spokane have been groomed daily and conditions are perfect for the weekend.

Methow Valley is holding the Rendevous Mountain Tour (35K) Saturday. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Mazama Community Center and the bus leaves at 9 a.m. Info - 996-3287.

Snowmobiling

In Idaho, sledding trails were recently groomed from Placer Creek outside of Wallace over Moon Pass to Avery and from Loop Creek to the Mullan Fish Hatchery.
