Snowmobiler Dies In B.C. Avalanche

From Staff And Wire Reports

Another snowmobiler was killed Sunday, bringing to four the number of snowmobilers killed in avalanches this winter in British Columbia.

The body of a 47-year-old Merritt man was recovered by a rescue team in the Stoyoma Mountain area, 25 miles southwest of Merritt in the Interior. The victim’s name was not released.

About 20 percent of avalanche fatalities in British Columbia since 1984 have involved snowmobiling. Four of this season’s 15 avalanche victims were snowmobilers.
