Rose McCord Post Falls

Visitation for Rose Marie McCord, 56, will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. McCord, who was born in Minnesota, died Saturday.

She graduated from high school in Minnesota and went on to complete a medical laboratory technology program at the University of Minnesota.

Mrs. McCord later moved to Post Falls and operated the T Bar J West Upholstery Business and then the T Bar J Bar in Huetter, Idaho.

She was a member of the Post Falls American Legion Auxiliary and supported the Post Falls Food Bank.

Two husbands preceded her in death, Dwaine Cameron and Robert McCord.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Secaur of Coeur d’Alene and Julie Olson of Kansas; three stepchildren, Brian and Mike McCord, both of Oregon, and Judy Andrews of New York; three sisters, Vangi Dahl of Korea, Pamela Winfrey of Virginia, and Linda Wong of Chicago; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Post Falls Food Bank or the American Legion Auxiliary.

Claude Hastings Post Falls

Visitation for Claude Samuel Hastings, 87, will be from 1-6 p.m. today at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hastings, who was born in North Dakota, died Monday.

Mr. Hastings lived in Texas and North Dakota, and farmed and raised cattle before moving to Post Falls in 1973.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Beverly; five sons, Alfred and Perry Hastings, both of North Dakota, Roy Hastings of Coeur d’Alene, Orville Hastings of Post Falls, and Gary Hastings of Renton, Wash.; three daughters, Geraldine Cooper of Coeur d’Alene, Claudia Shane of Nevada, and June York of Texas; a brother, Lawrence Hastings of California; four sisters, Doris Dahl, Margaret Henning, and Iona Lawler, all of North Dakota, and June Copple of Wyoming; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Florence McDermott Sandpoint

Service for Florence L. McDermott, 85, was Monday at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel in Sandpoint. Inurnment was at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mrs. McDermott, who was born in Iowa, died Thursday.

She grew up in Montana and Iowa, graduated from beauty school in Great Falls, Mont., and opened a beauty shop in Wheeler, Mont.

She moved to Colburn, Idaho, in 1936 and bought the Sandpoint School of Beauty in 1947, where she taught for 27 years.

Mrs. McDermott was a member of the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Her first husband, Alden, died in 1963.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; two daughters, Loretta May of Sandpoint and Roberta Kay Brown of Colville, Wash.; six stepchildren, Bob Woodfill, Gary McDermott, Diana Michaels, Debbie Schachtel, and Bonnie Harrison, all of Montana, and Jerry McDermott of Colorado; four grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bonner County or the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge.

Richard Lambert Spearfish, S.D.

Service for Richard D. Lambert, 59, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Kellogg. Burial will be at Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Pinehurst. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Lambert, who was born in Minnesota, died Sunday.

He moved to North Idaho as a child and later spent four years in the Air Force.

Mr. Lambert returned to North Idaho and worked in Silver Valley mines after his military discharge, before moving to South Dakota six years ago to work at The Homestake Gold Mine.

He was a member of the United Church of Kellogg.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Cleora of Spearfish; a son, Tim Lambert of Sturgis, S.D.; a daughter, Tami Ward Lambert of Spearfish; a brother, David Lambert of Pinehurst, Idaho; a sister, Joanne Canty of Helena, Mont.; and two grandchildren.

Eugene Barbishe Clark Fork, Idaho

Service for Eugene Albert Barbishe, 83, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Coffelt’s Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Buriel will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mr. Barbishe, who was born in Sandpoint, died Friday.

He graduated from Clark Fork High School.

Mr. Barbishe helped build plywood mills in Port Angeles and Aberdeen, Wash., as well as in Portland, and Crescent City, Calif.

He returned to Clark Fork in 1965 and built a machine shop and also helped run a hardware store and raised cattle.

Mr. Barbishe was a member of the Catholic Church and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include a brother, Charles Barbishe of Aberdeen, Wash.; one niece; and a grandnephew.

Jean Remund Spokane

Service for Jean M. Remund, 59, will be at 1 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Remund, who was born in Wallace, Idaho, died Sunday.

She was a homemaker and lived in Spokane for 37 years. She was a member of the Inland Empire Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, John; five daughters, Tammy Babbitt, Terri Stella, Valerie Greene, Stacy Main and Stephanie Barron, all of Spokane; her mother, Dorothy Crouch of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, William and Robert Crouch; and 16 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Inland Empire Garden Club.

John ‘Howard’ Gumaer Priest River, Idaho

Memorial service for John ‘Howard’ Gumaer, 73, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gumaer, a lifetime Priest River resident, died Sunday.

He graduated in 1943 from Priest River High School and served in the Army during World War II.

In 1948 he married Wanda Belle Gilmore in Vancouver, Wash.

Mr. Gumaer worked as a logger.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Randy, Gary and Kelly Gumaer, all of Priest River; a brother, Dewey Gumaer of Priest River; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Filson Coeur d’Alene

Service for Bonnie Jean Filson, 67, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Filson, who was born in Naples, Idaho, died Sunday.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Canada and lived throughout the Northwest and Alaska.

Mrs. Filson worked in photography, cosmetology and retail food sales.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1989.

Her husband, Bud, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Allan Fulson of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers; and five sisters in the United States and Canada.

Lois Kidder Plummer, Idaho

Visitation for Lois M. Kidder, 65, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Christian Life Fellowship in Plummer. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Plummer.

Mrs. Kidder, who died Saturday, was born in Latah, Wash.

She was a homemaker and a 41-year resident of Plummer.

Mrs. Kidder was a member of the Christian Life Fellowship in Plummer.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Jack; a son, Norman Kidder of Plummer; a daughter, Sharilyn Kidder of Spokane; two sisters, Joy Shute of Kennewick and Mona Guillot of Kirkland, Wash.; and a brother, Kenneth Litzenberger of Houston.

John ‘Jake’ Fullenwider Harrison, Idaho

Memorial service for John Jacob “Jake” Fullenwider, 96, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fullenwider, who was born in Missouri, died Friday.

He moved from Missouri to Idaho Falls in 1912 and attended college in Spokane in 1918.

Mr. Fullenwider moved to Worley, Idaho, in 1923 before moving to Butte, Mont., in 1929.

He lived in Spokane and operated The Big Dipper Drive-In during the 1940s and was also a life insurance salesman for Prudential Life.

He moved to California in 1948 and then moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1993.

Mr. Fullenwider was a member of the First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church, the Audubon Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.

He was a member of the El Katif Shrine and the Shuffle Board Association in California and was inducted into the California State and National Shuffle Board Hall of Fame.

Mr. Fullenwider was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Oatman and Kathryn Eddy, both of Carlin Bay, Idaho; a brother, Elmer Fullenwider of California; four grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Millie Liebel East Hope, Idaho

Memorial service for Millie Marie Liebel, 73, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements. Another memorial service was held Monday at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman.

Mrs. Liebel, who was born in Johnson, Wash., died Friday.

She graduated from Pullman High School and majored in music and speech at Washington State College. She graduated with a master’s degree in music education.

Mrs. Liebel taught school in Odessa, Wash., and later was the music supervisor for the Clarkston School District.

In 1949 she married Lester Liebel in Pullman and they moved to Ephrata, Wash., where she worked as treasurer of the Grant County Artist Series.

They later moved back to Johnson to the family farm for six years and then to Colville, Wash.

While in Colville, she directed the Methodist Church choir and junior choir. She also sang with the Elks Choraliers.

Mrs. Liebel and her husband moved to Madison, Wis., for a time and then back to Pullman. They lived in Pullman for 26 years before retiring and moving to East Hope, Idaho.

While in Pullman she operated Millie’s Music Studio, where she taught violin, viola, piano and voice.

Mrs. Liebel was an organizer and charter member of the Washington and Idaho Symphony, was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority at Washington State College, Mu Phi Epsilon, the Washington State University Symphony Orchestra, the Cougar Club Directors Circle, President’s Associates, Washington State University Foundation, and Players Committee Liaison where she received a certificate of appreciation in 1991, and the Music Teachers Association.

She was also involved with the Philanthropic Educational Organization where she served as vice president and president of Chapter S in Pullman and was a state delegate to the International Philanthropic Educational Organization Convention in Canada.

Mrs. Liebel was also the musical director of the Washington State Convention in Pullman and later was the vice president and president of the Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter CA in Sandpoint.

She served as treasurer for the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, was a member of the Ladies of the Shrine, the 10 a.m. Funny Coffee Club and the Senior Citizens Center in East Hope.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Kim Nygreen of Colton, Wash., Pam Gregory and Lynann Liebel, both of Spokane, Leslie Gibson of Woodinville, Wash., and Debbie Compton of Cheney; a brother, Millard Swales of East Hope; and 10 grandchildren.
