Holmgren Mum On Seattle

Associated Press

Green Bay Packers coach Mike Holmgren, saying he has not been contacted by any team, still wants to be a general manager.

Asked Wednesday if he would be interested in the Seattle Seahawks’ general manager job if the money was right, Holmgren said: “I don’t want to deal in hypotheticals right now. Why? There’s no point in it. Maybe I won’t have to make that decision. When the time comes if I do, I honestly can’t tell you right now. So let’s just wait and see.”

Reports out of Seattle that started before the Packers’ Super Bowl loss on Sunday indicate the Seahawks are interested in Holmgren, 49, as coach and general manager.

“I would suspect if anything does happen, hopefully it will also be done by the end of the week,” Holmgren said during a season-ending news conference.

It pays to recuperate

Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis’s migraine headache could be worth $100,000.

The AFC’s leading rusher left the Super Bowl because of the ailment after the first quarter, putting the Broncos’ bid of upsetting the Green Bay Packers in jeopardy. He returned in the third quarter after using a prescription migraine drug and led Denver to a 31-24 victory.

His performance earned him Most Valuable Player honors and interest from at least two drug companies, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. and Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co., who want him to be a spokesman for their migraine medications.

Around the league

The Baltimore Ravens said goodbye to troubled running back Bam Morris, an unrestricted free agent, and reiterated their desire to sign ex-Buffalo quarterback Jim Kelly… . Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones has scheduled a second interview with Green Bay offensive coordinator Sherman Lewis.
