Idaho’s Deer, Elk Seasons On Agenda

The Idaho Department of Fish & Game will host open houses in the Clearwater Region to present its proposals for this year’s deer and elk seasons.

Proposed changes include the Clearwater deer tag, an A/B tag system for elk and possible reductions in antlerless permit numbers.

If approved, the Clearwater proposal would require hunters to choose between hunting only in the Clearwater Region or elsewhere in the state.

Under the A/B system for elk, hunters would be required to choose a tag and select a zone. The A tag would include limited, spike-only rifle hunting with expanded archery and muzzleloader opportunities. The B tag would include any bull-elk rifle hunting opportunity with limited archery opportunity.

Antlerless permit numbers may be reduced in management units if significant mortality occurred during the winter.

Scheduled open houses, all 5-8 p.m.:

Moscow, Tuesday, Latah County Fairgrounds pavilion.

Grangeville, Wednesday, Senior Citizens Center.

Lewiston, Feb. 9, Community Center, 1424 Main.

Orofino, Feb. 11, National Guard armory.
