Suntree Inn Burglarized

A South Side motel was robbed late last week.

Police said a man entered the Suntree Inn, 123 S. Post, about 7:20 p.m. on Jan. 20.

The clerk on duty told police the suspect entered the office and ordered the clerk to give him money from the register, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.

The suspect had his left hand concealed in his coat pocket as if holding a handgun, Cottam said.

The robber grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register drawer and left, running south on Post.

The suspect was described as a black male about 35 years old and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a heavy build and a round face, black hair and a mustache.

A search of the area by officers and a police dog failed to locate the suspect, Cottam said.
