Local activities for the “Season of Nonviolence” celebration will begin at 7 tonight at the Spokane Spiritual Center, 12323 E. Mission.

In the 64 days of celebration, people are asked to participate in projects promoting nonviolence.
The kickoff activities in Spokane include performances and talks by the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Choir, Spokane City Councilman Orville Barnes, Malidoma! World Drum and Dance Ensemble, Gonzaga University law professor Amy Kelley-Peacock, Spokane Human Rights Commission member Keith Wolter, the Rev. Shon Davis with the “Jesus Is the Answer” youth gang program and many others.
