Man Suspected In 2 Kidnapping Attempts

A man who tried to kidnap a 13-year-old Newman Lake girl on Jan. 23 is believed to be involved in another kidnapping attempt, Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies would not release information on the second incident, which happened Monday.

On Jan. 23, a 13-year-old girl was near a school bus stop on East Hauser Lake Road when a man driving a white Jeep Cherokee tried to pull her in through his driver’s side window, deputies said.

She bit the man and ran off, deputies said.

Parents are asked to be on the lookout for the man, described as white, 50 to 60 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with gray or white hair and very hairy arms. He also has very tanned skin, deputies said.

Parents also are urged to wait with their children at their bus stops before and after school if possible.
