Wounded By Father, Moonshiner Killed By Brother

Compiled From Wire Services

A man who barely survived being shot a year ago by his moonshiner father did not survive a second shooting, this one blamed on a brother.

Scott Stanley, 27, was found dead Friday with several gunshot wounds to the chest at the home of brother Jason Brent Stanley.

Four 800-gallon moonshine stills and about 600 gallons of untaxed whiskey were found at the home, police said.

“It appears there had been a struggle before the shooting,” said Lt. Kimmy Nester of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.

Charged with second-degree murder was Jason Stanley, 24, who along with his father and brother has been convicted on moonshine charges in several Virginia counties.

One year ago, Scott Stanley was shot several times at the home of his father, William Gray “Dee” Stanley, and spent a number of days in critical condition.
