FROM SPORTS REPLAY (Friday, March 6, 1998): Daniel Dhillon scored 10 points for St. George’s in their B Tournament game Wednesday. His points were credited to another player in a story Thursday.

Key to the game: The undersized Cougars (19-3) couldn’t match up with the likes of 6-4 Brian Lindgren and 6-6 Scott Zea of the Irish (19-5).

Other highlights: De Sales toyed with Lyle, going on a 9-0 run when its lead was trimmed to 11-7, then scoring 11 straight when the Cougars pulled within eight in the third quarter… . The Irish concentrated their first-half defense on the only Lyle player who averaged in double figures during the season, Gabe Moore (20.5). Moore was limited to one free throw after a basket in the first half-minute.

Other highlights: Sophomore Jeremy Groth of Curlew (22-6) hit three of his six 3-pointers during a 21-6, third-quarter run that also included an emphatic dunk by Olsen… . The Billygoats (23-2) had won 11 consecutive games and hadn’t lost to a Class B team this year… . Pateros soph Clint Hull scored 30, hitting 11 of 21 from the floor and 7 of 8 from the line… . Hull scored 18 points in the first half, when Pateros led by as many as six.

Key to the game: Senior forward Richard Koss,who averages 9.1 ppg, scored eight during a third-quarter spree that lifted the Braves (22-3) from a 30-26 lead to a 38-27 edge.

Other highlights: Koss had two layups to snap a 20-all tie late in the first half… . Andy Otis and Brandon Odell, who scored 31 apiece during La Conner’s ‘96 trip to state, scored 15 and 13, respectively… . Odell also had 11 rebounds and hit 6 of 11 from the field… . Mike Chown totaled 12 rebounds for the Trojans (18-7), whose lone lead was 20-18, on a Travis Leach basket midway through the second quarter.

Key to the game: The persistent Panthers defense held Loggers point guard Ned Miller (15.8 ppg) scoreless until the 6-minute mark of the third quarter, then checked Dennis Sherrill (17.1 ppg) on four points in the second half. “We wanted to shut down their post and 3-point shooting,” said VC center Brian Sears. Sears and Jared Evans shared 23 first-half points. .. .Sears finished with 23, two shy of a season high he set against Davenport. … Evans had 10 rebounds and Sears hit 9 of 15 from the field to lead a 52-percent effort. … VC (23-2), with 11 straight wins, ended the first half with a 14-0 run and the second with a 15-3 run. … The Loggers (16-10) were the top returning team from last year, with a third-place trophy.

Key to the game: The Dragons went on a 16-0 run beginning at the 5:31 mark in the second quarter and finished at the buzzer when Zach Blume launched an ugly one-hander and scored from 30 feet out. The run gave St. George’s a 25-16 halftime lead and never trailed after that.

Other highlights: Shane Quinlan, Matt Peterson and Micah Brown were the only Snohomish County Christian players who scored in the first half. The team was shut down the final 5:45 of the first half. .. Brown, who missed part of the second quarter after coming down hard on an ankle, tried to take over in the final minutes but finished with nine points on 4-of-13 shooting. Matt Peterson led the Lions with 12 points. … Blume, Sean Taylor and Drew Moser all finished with 10 points for the Dragons. … The score was tied four times in the first half. The Dragons’ biggest lead was 38-27 with 6:10 left in the game when Moser, a ninth-grader, scored on a jumper.

Key to the game: After a sluggish first half, SJE came out and scored six quick points to open the third quarter. The Tigers never recovered and were outscored 33-14 in the second half.

Other highlights: SJE (21-5) has held three opponents to 35 points or less. … SJE point guard Grant Bafus, averaging 14.1 ppg, was held to nine points on 3-of-16 shooting. Teammates John Stoner and Ryan Stolmeier both scored team-high 11 points. Chris Wisner of Napavine (17-10) was hit with his third foul 3:17 into the third quarter. He finished with a game-high 12 points and teammate Ryan Barr contributed with a game-high 15 rebounds. … The Eagles are looking for their first State B crown since 1980. ..

Key to the game: After letting a 16-point third-quarter lead shrink to four points, the Warriors regained control when Michael Richardson hit 1 of 2 and Borin Lach hit 2 of 2 free throws with less than 2 minutes remaining.

Other highlights: Odessa guard Scott Kramer scored back-to-back buckets late in the fourth quarter to pull his team within 43-39. Kramer, averaging 11.1 ppg, finished with 13 points. Teammate Michael Jeske led the team with 15 while Ryan Floch led both teams with 11 boards. Doug Johns, a 6-foot-5 forward, led Chief Leschi with 15 points.

Key to the game: With 2:27 left to play, North Beach’s Mike Lilja scored on a turnaround jumper to give the Hyaks a 50-45 lead, and they held on from there.

Other highlights: Lilja, a 6-8 center, led the Hyaks with 12 points and 12 rebounds. The Hyaks, a 60 percent free-throw shooting team on the season, hit 4 of 8 in the last 42.9 seconds and 10 of 18 overall. … Matt Rody led the Cougars with 15 points and nine boards.
