Chavez Faces Gonzales

Compiled From Wire Services

Julio Cesar Chavez, one of the few modern fighters to record 100 victories, enters the ring tonight for what might be his final bout.

His decision will depend on who wins the WBC super lightweight title - Chavez, the 35-year-old, six-time world champion, or his young rival, Miguel Angel Gonzalez.

In Chandler, Ariz., a judge dismissed assault and disorderly charges against retired fighter Michael Carbajal, who was accused of beating up an off-duty police officer last year.

However, in a plea agreement with prosecutors, the former champion pleaded no contest to a charge of fleeing arrest and was fined $170.
