Kootenai Deputy Injured In Collision With Truck

Compiled From Wire Services

A Kootenai County sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries Thursday night when his patrol car collided with a truck that ran a stop sign.

Deputy Lee E. Richardson and Melissa R. Williams, the driver of the truck, both were treated and released at Kootenai Medical Center, the Idaho State Police said.

The ISP said Williams was westbound on Honeysuckle Avenue and did not stop at a stop sign at Government Way. William’s 1993 Toyota 4-Runner collided with Richardson’s patrol car at the intersection, causing her truck to roll onto its side.

ISP officers ticketed Williams following the accident.

The deputy’s 1997 Ford is unusable and may be a total loss, said sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Thomas.
