Knauss Win Super-G Race
Hans Knauss loves Olympic super-G courses.
Three weeks after sharing the silver medal at the Nagano Games, Knauss won a World Cup super-G on Kvitfjell’s 1994 Olympic course.
Countryman Hermann Maier, who did not start, clinched the season’s super-G title as his only remaining rival fell and did not finish the race.
Knauss, who shared the silver medal behind Maier in the Winter Olympics, clocked 1 minute, 30.80 seconds down the 2,574-meter Olympiabakken.
It was his fourth career World Cup victory and third in a super-G. The other was in a giant slalom.
