Soldiers Begin Farming To Increase Income
Thai soldiers based around Bangkok have taken up farming in their spare time to boost their earnings during the country’s economic troubles, a newspaper reported Sunday.
About 800 soldiers in the area are growing fruits and vegetables and raising ducks and chickens, the Bangkok Post said. They’ve even dug a fish pond.
Most of the food is eaten by the soldiers’ families, but the surplus is sold at local markets, the newspaper said.
