Artist Tom Kramer, a resident of Sagle, Idaho, says his paintings function as a visual metaphor for introspection, laughter and wholeness.

He began his artistic career with humorous drawings in his grade school in Portland. In high school, he advanced to watercolors and caricatures. And, progressing ever further, he pursued acrylics, oils and art classes in college in Wisconsin and California.

But he kept his sense of humor through it all, Kramer said.

His first exhibitions were in San Francisco’s Unicorn Gallery in 1968. Since then, he’s shown his work in six states, one Canadian province, eight periodicals and on a compact disc cover.

“All my work has an intensity of color and subtlety of humor or meaning that hopefully contributes to a kind of healing experience for the view,” he said.

The acrylic artwork of Tom Kramer is being exhibited at the Geer Gallery, 8 S. Monroe, Friday through April 9. An artist reception will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. Gallery hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Cheney Cowles gives ‘Pop Art’ party

The Cheney Cowles Musuem will celebrate its “Soup to Nuts: Pop Art and Its Legacy” exhibit with a party Friday from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Guests are invited to dig out their ‘60s era clothes for the occasion.

The second bus, departing at 7:45 p.m. and returning at 8:55, will visit the Jundt Art Musuem on the Gonzaga University campus and the Chase Gallery.
