Ferris Girls Go Back To What Works In Win

There’s no guarantee Ferris will get a trophy out of the girls State 4A basketball tournament, but the Saxons proved a point late Thursday night.

The Saxons rolled past Rogers of Puyallup 56-35 in the Kingdome, letting the few remaining fans know they are a much better team than the one that scored just 29 points in its first-round loss to Federal Way.

“We were more aggressive. We decided to move the ball today and play Ferris-style basketball,” said Janell Morrisette, who led the revival by scoring 13 of her career-tying 17 points in the second half. “We attacked the basketball and got out and ran. That’s our game.”

Amy George added 16 points.

The Saxons (21-6) face Columbia River (16-10), which eliminated No. 3 Foss 63-46, at 1:30 today. A win puts them into the trophy games for the third time in three trips to state.
