Free Lawn-Care Workshop Offered

What homeowner isn’t interested in lawn care? OK, maybe there are some whose only concern is when and how often to mow.

For the rest, there’s a free workshop. The popular “Yardening: Lawn Care and Maintenance” workshop taught by master gardener Mark Davis will be March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Hillyard Branch Library, 4005 N. Cook.

Preregistration is recommended; just call 444-5380.

Focus on gardens as art

The Seattle Asian Art Museum will stage the second annual Gardens of Art weekend-long event March 27-29 at the museum in Seattle’s Volunteer Park.

The activities include lectures by gardening experts, including Ann Lovejoy, a Northwest writer and teacher, and Ron Rule, the director of the University of British Columbia Garden Design Program.

And, of course, there will be plenty of floral displays.

The lectures are $10 each and lunch is available for $10. An all-day pass ($25) includes two lectures and lunch.

For information about tickets and a lecture schedule, call (206) 654-3122. The Asian Art Museum is located at 1400 E. Prospect St. in Volunteer Park. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission to the museum is $6, $4 for students and seniors.
