Starbucks To Open Stores In Thailand

Compiled From Wire Services

Starbucks Coffee International said Tuesday it will open Starbucks coffee-bar outlets in Thailand, under an agreement with Coffee Partners Co.

Starbucks said the first location is scheduled to open this summer, Dow Jones News Service reported.

Coffee Partners holds the licensing rights to open Starbucks locations throughout Thailand, Starbucks said. Coffee Partners is partly owned by Thailand’s Central Pattana PCL.

Starbucks said it opened 150 company-operated retail stores during the 21 weeks ended Feb. 22, while licensees in North America and overseas opened an additional 30, bringing the total number of Starbucks stores to 1,558. The company said it and its licensees plan to open an additional 390 stores worldwide this year.
