Dollar Mixed In Quiet Session

The dollar was mixed against other major currencies in a quiet session Monday as anxiety about Japan’s upcoming fiscal stimulus package kept trading in a tight range.

The dollar finished marginally higher against the yen as dealers waited to see if Japan’s ruling party will issue strong measures to bolster the country’s ailing economy when the plan is released later this week.

Against the mark, the dollar finished lower after gaining an early lift from Russian President Boris Yeltsin’s shocking firing of his entire Cabinet.
