College basketball

University of Idaho assistant men’s basketball coach Mark Bernsen has resigned to pursue a private business opportunity in St. Louis.

“The players were wonderful and great to work with,” Bernsen said. “I see nothing but good things ahead for the University of Idaho basketball program.”

Bernsen grew up in St. Louis. He’s been coaching for 26 years.

“In trying to build a top-level Big West program we’ve been fortunate to have the personality and experience of Mark Bernsen for as long as we have,” UI coach Dave Farrar said.
