Spinning Car Pins Girl Against Wall

From Staff And Wire Reports

A car backing out of a school parking spot spun out of control Tuesday afternoon, injuring a 10-year-old student when it hit a bicycle rack.

Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies the Honda Accord clipped a pole supporting a carport while backing up and continued into the bicycle rack. The car jolted the rack, which briefly pinned a girl against a wall, deputies said.

The car then continued to circle and hit a couple of parked cars and at least one other pole before stopping.

The injured girl, whose name was not available, was taken to Kootenai Medical Center. Her injuries did not appear to be serious, deputies said. The driver was not injured.

Class at North Idaho Christian School had just let out for the day when the accident happened. Several students and parents witnessed the 3 p.m. accident.

“There were lots of kids in the area,” said Jerry Stevens, a pastor at Friends Church, which runs the school.
