Dollar Tumbles Against Yen

The dollar fell sharply against the Japanese yen Wednesday, as traders worried that the central bank of Japan would sell the U.S. currency in a bid to support the yen.

The dollar also fell against the Deutsche mark in sympathy with its drop against the yen.

The dollar plunged almost two yen early in the session on rumors that the Bank of Japan might sell dollars as early as today to coincide with the launch of a domestic stimulus package by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
