Eagleson Leaves Hall
NHL players’ union founder Alan Eagleson resigned from the Hockey Hall of Fame Wednesday, less than a week before its board of directors was scheduled to consider expelling him.
Eagleson is currently serving an 18-month jail sentence in an Ontario jail after being convicted of fraud in the U.S. and Canada.
In January, Eagleson, a former agent and the founder of the National Hockey League Players’ Association, pleaded guilty to two counts of mail fraud in a U.S. District Court in Boston and was ordered to pay about $700,000 in restitution to his former clients.
Station may settle with Lindros
An all-sports radio station reportedly plans to apologize to Eric Lindros and make a charitable donation to settle a legal dispute over a story.
The station aired a report that the Philadelphia Flyers captain missed a game with a hangover.
“A settlement is imminent,” said Carl Lindros, father and agent of the Flyers star.
