Kristina Koznick overtook Tasha Nelson in the women’s slalom at the U.S. Alpine Ski Championships in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Sacha Gros of Vail, Colo., won the men’s slalom.

Claudia Poll of Costa Rica, the Olympic and world champion in the 200-meter freestyle, won her speciality and the 800-meter freestyle at a short-course World Cup event in Imperia, Italy.

Rodeo’s richest event will stay in Las Vegas at least through 2007 following approval of a new 10-year contract between tourism officials and the National Finals Rodeo.

The United States will play Kuwait on May 24 at Civic Stadium in Portland in the Americans’ next-to-last exhibition game before this summer’s World Cup.
