Westwood Revision Proposed

A developer of the Westwood Hills subdivision in southwest Spokane is seeking a replat of an older development proposal.

The view property is on a bluff to the west of Hangman Creek Valley near Thorpe and Assembly roads.

A neighborhood meeting will be held today at 5 p.m. on the site at 23rd and Scenic Court.

City officials said the preliminary plat for Westwood Hills was first approved in 1983.

The new proposal calls for rearranging the lots and street configuration so the developer can bring in an access street from the west, the uphill side of the project.

Under the old plat, a street coming in from the east would have served the east part, or downhill side of the subdivision.

City officials said the owners will have to appear before the city hearing examiner to have the new plat approved. No hearing has been scheduled yet.

Different city departments are reviewing the plans to make sure they conform with city development standards.

One issue is the steepness of a proposed 23rd Court culdesac where it would drop down a hill to serve lots on the east part of the subdivision, said Heather Trautman of the city zoning staff.

The property is zoned for single-family residential use and is adjacent to other single-family subdivisions built in the past decade or more.
