Ice Dancing On Thin Ice

Compiled From Wire Services

The International Olympic Committee will consider dropping ice dancing from the Winter Games after a top official asked for a review of the sport’s judging.

The IOC executive committee will discuss the status of ice dancing when it meets at the end of April in Sydney, said IOC spokeswoman Michele Verdier, adding that it remains “a full-medal sport for 2002.”

IOC vice president Dick Pound, a Canadian, asked for a review of the sport’s judging after the games in Nagano, Japan. The Canadian team of Shae-Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz said after they finished out of the medals that the results were predetermined.
