Body In Lake Identified As Spokane Woman

From Staff And Wire Reports

A woman found dead in Lake Coeur d’Alene was identified Friday as a 44-year-old Spokane woman.

Vivian R. Courteau’s body was discovered Thursday evening in the water near a rock outcropping at the base of Tubbs Hill. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Courteau died of hypothermia and drowning, police said.

Police believe she may have committed suicide.

Courteau was reported missing Wednesday to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department. A note found Thursday in her apartment indicated she was depressed and planned on coming to the lake.

Coeur d’Alene police found her car in the Third Street Dock parking lot. A parking stub inside indicated she had arrived Wednesday.
