Mother Charged With Abusing Her Children

A Spokane woman was jailed after witnesses told police she was abusing her children, officers said.

Misty D. Kateley, 26, of 2225 N. Howard remains in the Spokane County Jail on a charge of second-degree assault on a child. Her bond is $25,000.

Police were called to her North Howard home about 8:45 a.m. Thursday and found her 4-year-old daughter and 19-month-old son with extensive bruises and other marks. Police would not give further details on the injuries. The children were taken to an area hospital, police said.

An investigation continues and Child Protective Services has been contacted.
