No Charges Planned In Strip-Search Case

No charges will be filed against the adults who ordered 34 middle school girls strip searched in a hunt for stolen cash, CDs, makeup and jewelry.

District Attorney Brad Berry said Friday he found no evidence of criminal intent in the Jan. 29 search at Duniway Middle School.

“Mistakes have been made,” he said. “The community needs to learn from these mistakes and move on.”

A growing number of people have have filed a notice to sue the school district and the city, alleging that the search violated the girls’ civil rights.
