Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: More than a year ago I clipped one of your hints about laundry-detergent scoopers. I especially liked the hint for party favors. I thought it would be good for our church functions, so I asked everyone to save their scoopers.

Our first function was a spring rally. I made small crosses, added mints, covered with plastic wrap and tied with a bow. It was a success.

So, we continued to save the scoopers, and for Christmas we did the same (small crosses and mints) and took them to a convalescent home.

I thank you for that hint and for many others that I’ve used. - Beverly Gilcrease, Sacramento, Calif.

Thanks for sending along your thank you. Sharing hints is the basis of this column, and we’re glad you found a hint you can use regularly. We are also printing the following hint that you sent in.- Heloise

Dear Readers: Here is a cute hint to use come springtime from Ruth DesCamp from Phelps, N.Y.

If you cut down a tree and keep the stump, make some holes in it to plant flowers. Just fill the holes with dirt, plant flowers and water daily.

Another idea that is nice and easy is to put potted plants on top of a tree stump. Either pretty vines or flowers really dress it up.- Heloise
