Irene Wozny Raymond Wozny Coeur d’Alene

Funeral Mass for Irene T. (Martin) Wozny and Raymond A. Wozny was Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wozny, who was born in California, died Wednesday. She was 77.

She grew up and attended high school in California and married Raymond Wozny in Oakland in 1945. She was a homemaker.

Mr. Wozny, who was born in Nebraska, died Thursday. He was 76.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1935 and attended local schools and then served with the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1937 to 1939.

Mr. Wozny served in World War II and moved to California after his military discharge.

After they were married, the Woznys lived in California until moving to Mica Bay near Coeur d’Alene in 1974 and later settling in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. and Mrs. Wozny were both members of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Mr. Wozny was also a member of the Plumbers Local 393 in California and the Eagles Aerie.

Their survivors include two sons, Stephen Wozny of Longview, Wash., and Douglas Wozny of Colorado; and three grandchildren.

Alice Symons Post Falls

Visitation for Alice L. Symons, 69, will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.

Mrs. Symons, who was born in Orofino, Idaho, died Thursday.

She grew up in Orofino and attended high school in Pierce, Idaho, before settling in Oakesdale, Wash.

Mrs. Symons moved to the Coeur d’Alene/Post Falls area in 1959 and was a farmer.

She was a member of the Cloverleaf Grange and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Post Falls 1st Ward.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hale Huggins in 1958.

Survivors include her husband, Spencer Jr.; three sons, Bob Huggins of Plummer, Idaho, Joe Symons of Nevada and Doc Symons of Athol, Idaho; three daughters, Barbara Dill of Texas, Frances Galloway of Cataldo, Idaho, and Tina Hull of Sagle, Idaho; her mother, Esther McIntosh of Lapwai, Idaho; four brothers, Virgil McIntosh of Orofino, Leonard and Don McIntosh, both of Weippe, Idaho, and Cliff McIntosh of Pierce; two sisters, Margaret Chapman of Westport, Wash., and Florence Marshall of Lapwai; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Darrol Wells Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Darrol D. Wells, 67, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wells, who was born in Baker, Mont., died Thursday.

He grew up in Ontario, Canada, and moved to Coeur d’Alene at the age of 16.

Mr. Wells worked as a mason in the construction business, and was a member of bowling leagues at the Cove and Sunset bowling alleys.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Thomas of Post Falls and Donald Thomas of Idaho Falls, Idaho; four daughters, Shirley Walton of Rathdrum, Idaho, Susan Whitesitt of Coeur d’Alene, Barbara Calhau of Hawaii and Valerie Nelson of Portland; his mother, Beatrice Wells of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Gordon Wells of Coeur d’Alene; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Michael ‘Ironman’ Scholes Pleasant Hill, Ore.

Service for Michael George “Ironman” Scholes, 36, was March 19 at his home in Pleasant Hill. Heritage Cremation Society in Eugene, Ore., was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scholes, who was born in Van Nuys, Calif., died March 15.

He grew up in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and worked as a tree planter.

After moving to Pleasant Hill 11 years ago, he owned and operated Ironman Enterprises.

Mr. Scholes was a member of the Million Tree Club.

Survivors include his wife, Kirsten; three sons, Michael, Richard and Adam, all of Pleasant Hill; his mother, Cher Lee-Milne of Nelson, British Columbia; his father, George Scholes of Jackson Hole, Utah; his stepfather, James Holeski of Bonners Ferry; four brothers, Randy Scholes of Cheney, John Scholes, and Casimir and Jesse Holeski, all of Bonners Ferry; a sister, Anna Yeomans of Bonners Ferry; and his grandmother of Harbor City, Calif.
