Hauser Won’t Have Service While Phone Switch Replaced

From Staff And Wire Reports

This is not an April Fool’s joke.

Wednesday, between 11 p.m. and midnight, Hauser Lake residents and businesses won’t have telephone service. GTE is replacing a telephone switch damaged by a lightning strike.

The switch still works, but the back-up mechanism no longer functions, GTE said.

Area residents will be able to use cellular telephones, but 911 service will not be available during the one-hour repair job.

In case of emergency, residents can go to the Hauser Lake Fire Department at 6345 W. Hauser Lake Road. They also can contact a GTE crew at the intersection of Hauser Lake Road and East Hauser Lake Road.

The crew will have cellular telephones, GTE said.
