Reader’s Digest Moves Into Modern Age

Next month, for the first time in 75 years, you’ll have to open up Reader’s Digest to find out what’s inside.

Beginning with the May issue, the world’s largest-circulation magazine will move its table of contents off the front cover to modernize its look and make it easier for readers to navigate, editor in chief Christopher Willcox announced Monday.

The May cover is a full-page photo of a female firefighter in San Francisco. The new Digest will have the full table of contents on pages 2 and 3.

The issue will begin reaching subscribers April 10 and will be on newsstands two weeks later. All 48 of the Digest’s worldwide editions - 27 million copies in 19 languages - are making the change.
