TicketsWest to employ advanced ticket-tracking technology at Arena

From staff reports

Fans or concert-goers attending events at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena will start using a new ticket-scanning technology that ensures the validity of tickets and develops better tracking data on customer use.

The new system is called ScanTix, and was developed by TicketsWest, an entertainment division of Spokane-based WestCoast Hospitality Corp.

ScanTix uses bar-code scanners to quickly identify valid tickets presented by fans as they enter a venue, said Jack Lucas, vice president of TicketsWest. The version being developed here was based on technology already developed by a California company, Alvarado Technology.

The system also allows promoters or event hosts to quickly determine data about those attending a show, said Lucas.

“If I’m Bobby Brett of the Spokane Chiefs and I want to know how many ‘no-shows’ among season ticket-holders I have for Wednesday games, this (system) lets me determine that, so I can create marketing and promotional events to eliminate that,” said Lucas.

TicketsWest plans to market the product wherever it sells tickets, he added.
