Meeting on Liberty Lake Elementary will be Wednesday

The Spokesman-Review

The Central Valley School District will hold a meeting for the Liberty Lake Elementary School community Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to address the district’s proposed facilities concept.

The presentation will be held at the elementary school, 23606 E. Boone Ave., and will include an in-depth look at the impacts of growth at Liberty Lake and a review of options being considered by the district.

The district has proposed a plan to deal with a growing student population over the next six to eight years that includes building two new schools and remodeling others.

The district is considering temporarily busing kindergarten students from Liberty Lake Elementary, which will be over capacity next year, to a “kindergarten center” at the current Barker Center location.

On Wednesday the public is invited to listen to the presentation, submit written questions, and sign up to participate in one of several small discussion groups to be held with district administrators in the coming weeks.

Attendees will also receive a written set of questions and answers compiled from input provided to the district by Liberty Lake parents and staff, said Melanie Rose, district spokeswoman. Because of time constraints, questions will be addressed during the small group discussions and not during the presentation, Rose said.

The school board voted Nov. 8 to seek comments on the plan before taking any action.

The information gathered at the small group discussions will be presented to the board in March.
