Baseball

Sign up: Indoor camp put on by Ray Hattenburg, who played for Washington State University, the Spokane Indians and the Kansas City Royals organization. Camp at Mt. Spokane High School begins Jan. 8 and goes every Saturday through Feb. 26. Ages 12-14 is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and ages 15 and older is from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $85. Basketball

Sign up: YMCA Youth basketball for children grades K-3 formed by grade and school. Teams practice one evening a week beginning Jan. 31. Games will be weekly from Feb. 11 through March 28. Register by Jan. 7. Info: 838-3577 ext. 170 or 777-9622.

Jan 2-3: Little Zags camp for boys and girls, grades 1-8. Instruction provided by Gonzaga men’s basketball coaching staff, current and former players. Sunday’s session is from 4 to 7 p.m. and Monday’s session is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $50 if registered by Dec. 28 and $65 at the door. Bicycling

Fishing

Sign up: Rod-building classes at White’s Outdoor by local rod builder Steve Moran. Student supplies blank and components. First class is offered Jan. 6 and 13 at 6 p.m., second class is Jan. 27 and Feb 3 at 6 p.m. Cost is $55. Info: 535-1875.

Sign up: Fly-tying class with G.L. Britton at White’s Outdoor. The first class is on Monday nights (Jan.10, 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7, 14) from 7 to 9 p.m. and the second class is offered Wednesday nights (Jan. 12, 19, 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16) from 7 to 9 p.m. All tool and materials will be supplied. Shooting

Dec. 26: Winter games tournament at Landt Farms Sporting Clays. This is a fund-raiser for the Eastern Washington Youth Foundation’s Shotgun program. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the tournament begins at 10. Cost is $50 for adults and $35 for youth (18 and younger). Fee includes lunch. Info: 464-2070.

Skiing/snowboarding

Jan. 3-27: Ski and snowboard conditioning class offered by U-District Physical Therapy. Classes are one hour Monday and Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. Info: Brian, 458-7686.

Sign up: A variety of lessons, trips and various activities involving winter sports, including cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowboarding are being offered through Spokane Parks and Recreation. Registration is required. Dates, times and costs vary. Info: 625-6200.

Volleyball
