Pilots zoom past Vandals during 2nd half

PORTLAND, Ore. – Donald Wilson scored 14 points and Darren Cooper added 11 to lead the University of Portland to an 81-66 non-conference men’s basketball victory over the University of Idaho on Thursday.

The Pilots (10-4) shot 64 percent from the field in the second half and held a 26-12 edge in bench points over the Vandals (2-9).

Portland led 41-33 at halftime and used a 26-11 run after the break to build a 69-44 lead just after the midway point of the second half.

Dandrick Jones led all scorers with 18 points for the Vandals. Anton Lyons and Tanoris Shepard added 16 points apiece for Idaho.

Portland’s Pooh Jeter (12 points) and Marcus Lewis (11) also scored in double figures.

The Pilots used a 10-2 run midway through the first half to gain a 30-19 lead. Portland made 11 of its first 19 field-goal attempts.

Jeter scored 11 first-half points. Jones scored 10 first-half points to keep the game within reach for Idaho.
