Former presidents in good health

Associated Press

A look at the health of the four living former presidents:

Gerald Ford Former President Ford, 90, is in fine shape and has no health issues, says his spokeswoman, Penny Circle. The 38th president undergoes a physical examination twice a year, with his latest checkup last month.

Ford spent a night in a California hospital last year after experiencing dizziness while playing golf in hot weather. The Michigan Republican also suffered a mild stroke in August 2000.

Jimmy Carter — Former President Carter turns 80 on Oct. 1, and his aides say he has no health problems. The 39th president and 2002 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize still maintains a busy schedule, traveling around the world on missions to promote peace, economic development and human rights. He bikes, walks vigorously, plays tennis or swims daily, said his spokeswoman, Deanna Congileo.

George H.W. Bush — What former President Bush is scheduled to do Sunday might be a testament to his physical condition: He’ll celebrate his 80th birthday by parachuting out of a plane over the grounds of the Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas. Aides say he is in good health and still keeps an extensive travel schedule.

Bill Clinton — Former President Clinton is “doing very well,” his spokesman, Jim Kennedy said. Clinton turns 58 in August. self end
