Arts program brings sculpture to LC campus

A new sculpture by renowned Spokane artist Harold Balazs has been added to the Lewis and Clark High School campus through a Washington state program supporting art in public places.

“Discovery,” which symbolizes the journeys of explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark as well as those of everyday high school students, was installed on the western grounds of the campus last month.

As part of the 1998 school improvement bond, the state provided matching monies to the school district for renovation and modernization of the LC building and campus. An amount equal to one-half of 1 percent of that matching money was provided for development of a piece of public art.
