Museum dedicated to New Orleans tastes

Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS — Now you can get a taste of New Orleans without adding a single calorie to your diet.

Through the end of August, the New Orleans City Centre is hosting an exhibit called “A Taste of New Orleans” focusing on the history of local beverages. Antique Sazerac bottles (a 19th century cocktail), an absinthe dispenser, vintage ads and chicory are among the displays.

The exhibit is being sponsored by organizers of a future Southern Food and Beverage Museum, which hopes to open a permanent facility in 2005 on the various ethnic cuisines that have influenced Southern cooking.
